Tailor-Made Leadership Training: KAAD Institute Concludes Three-Day Programme for the Board of Wadaagsan Company LLC, Developers of Garacad Port

GARACAD, PUNTLAND, 16 April 2021 — KAAD Institute concluded a three-day, tailor-made leadership training programme for the Board of Directors of Wadaagsan Company LLC, the company developing Garacad Port — one of the most significant private infrastructure undertakings in Puntland.

A port of Garacad’s scale is more than a construction project: it is an institution in the making. The programme was designed around the governance responsibilities that come with it — board leadership, oversight of a shareholder-owned company, strategic decision-making, and the coordination demands of a project that touches government, investors, and communities alike.

A port of this scale will demand strong governance from day one — this training is part of building it.

Governance before the first ship docks

Across the three days, sessions combined technical briefings with extended working blocks in which board members applied governance tools directly to the company’s own planning and oversight routines — from board procedure and collective decision-making to the management of a widely held shareholding company. The approach reflects the Embed stage of the KAAD Execution Model™: capability built into the systems and routines an institution actually uses, so that improvement outlasts the engagement.

The programme drew on the Institute’s executive and technical training practice, which serves both public institutions and private-sector organisations whose work carries public consequence — infrastructure, fisheries, and trade among them.

Our measure of success is not the certificate on the wall — it is whether the boardroom runs better six months after we leave.

Dr Abdirahman Jama Kulmiye — Director, KAAD Institute

What comes next

Follow-up advisory support continues as Garacad Port advances, with the Institute’s team available to the board as governance questions emerge. It is the standard KAAD Institute holds every training programme to: practical skills, lasting systems.
